Marsh Volunteer Planting

Our slogan, “Bringing Back the Bay” means replanting many of the species we’ve lost over the years. Every year, groups of up to 15 volunteer planters wade through marshes and slog through mud to replace native shrubs, plants and trees in an effort to enhance and create new habitat areas.

The Royal Botanical Gardens has invited BARC in a community involvement of marsh restoration activities within the Garden's properties. This event assists the RBG towards the continued recovery of Cootes Paradise and aids toward delisting the Hamilton Harbour as an Area of Concern. We would like to thank the RBG for inviting BARC and the community to participate with the marsh restoration project.

Planting days are popular because they are a great way for individuals to see, touch and have fun while helping to restore the harbour.
